HOW IT WORKS:
Beginning Tuesday, November 13, 2007
There will be Two Christmas swap sign-up databases at the group.
The first will be titled "Ornament Swap" and the other will be titled "Candle Swap"
You will find the database when you join our
Everythingchristmas Yahoo Group!
Once you've joined all you do is click on the link found on
The left side of our homepage titled Database.
You pick the Swap you want to participate in, go into the Database and fill in the required information!
The cut off date for the sign ups is Thursday, November 22, 2007. (Thanksgiving Day!)
If you miss out on this swap ~ Look for the many more swaps we have planned for future dates!
One of our moderators, either Lou or Lisa will be sending out an email for the swap.
The emails will contain the rules, max to spend and so on.
On Sunday, November 25, 2007 you will be given a partner.
We will post the information, naming your partner in the database
Next to your name as well as in an email to the group.
You will have until Friday,November 30, 2007, to shop for your partner and mail your swap out
Your Swap MUST be mailed Via Priority Mail with a Delivery Confirmation #.
Please post your Confirmation number in the database for tracking.

Once you receive swap please post the date you received it in the
database.
Also, post a thank you to your partner in the group and tell us what you
got!
Pictures are always a plus! You can add your photos in your post or post them in the Group Album
. You will find the link to the Group Photo Album on the left hand side of the homepage.
All swaps must be mailed out no later than Saturday,December 8, 2007 !
If you are late for any reason (We know and understand we all have lives)
PLEASE let the moderators know immediatley so they can try to find a fill-in for you.
This
may only be done ONCE.
If it happens again, you won't be able to participate
in any future swaps.
Please be considerate and only sign up if you tend to participate
And follow these simple rules!
We would hate to see someone spend money and send their partner a great swap
And receive nothing in return.
Again, if that happens, you are considered a FLAKER and will not be able to participate in future swaps.
If this works out well, we'll have other members become Hosts/Hostesses.
If you would like to host a swap or have any questions let us know.
SWAPPING IS EASY AND FUN SO JOIN US, WON'T YOU?!!
~~~~~PACKAGE MAILING TIPS~~~~~
Choosing the right kind of box
Select a container that's strong enough to protect the contents.
The
post office does not accept parcels that weigh more than 70 pounds,
so a thick sturdy cardboard should suffice for most parcels.
Allow space for cushioning inside the carton with packing material.
For breakable, fragile items, make sure to wrap it in bubble wrap
and have at least three inches of space all around the item, filled
with packing material. Plain air-popped popcorn, shredded or rolled
newspaper, bubble wrap, or plastic-foam peanuts work well for
cushioning package contents.
Packing the box the right way
Carefully fill glass and fragile hollow items such as vases with
newspaper or packing material to avoid damage from shock.
When mailing framed photographs, take the glass out.
Sandwich the
frame between two pieces of cardboard and the photograph between
two
pieces of cardboard.
Wrap the glass in bubble wrap. Pack and ship
the three items together,
but wrapping these separately will
protect
the frame and photo in case of glass breakage.
Place a return label INSIDE the package as well, so if the outer
one
gets damaged, it will not be lost forever.
Securing the box for shipping
Only use tape that is designed for shipping, such as pressure-
sensitive tape. Plain, clear adhesive and masking tapes do not work
well for packaging because they may fail in extreme hot or cold
conditions before it gets to the destination.
Don't wrap the outside of the package with paper (such as brown
paper bags or newspaper).
If you feel this is necessary for additional protection, mark the original container (cardboard box)
with the address as well, in case the outer wrapping gets ripped
off
by a mechanical part or another package. Do not tie string onto the
package, as it could get caught in the automated equipment,
destroying the package and the equipment.
Marking the box to be shipped
Type or print the complete delivery address neatly.
The only
addresses on packages for mailing should be the delivery and return
addresses.
Use a waterproof marker or pen. If you don't have one, use a clear
piece of tape to cover and protect the address from smearing if it
gets wet or smudged.
